OUR STORY

In 2019, NESA was founded by Mizan Rahman to simplify retirement plans, inspired by the challenges employers face in managing ever-changing 401(k) and 403(b) landscape.

Seeing that small businesses and non-profits were often underserved in the workplace retirement plan, our founder was inspired to create a firm that prioritizes their unique needs. He firmly believes that every hard-working American deserves access to a meaningful employer-sponsored retirement plan, regardless of the size of the business or organization.

From the beginning, NESA has embraced a collaborative approach to client success. We work hand in hand with your HR and finance teams, financial advisors, CPAs, and other key partners to design and manage retirement plans that align with each client’s unique goals.

With a commitment to serving businesses and nonprofits with care and expertise, NESA continues to demonstrate that no organization is too small to receive exceptional support.

LEADERSHIP TEAM

Meet the People Leading the Charge

We are driven by the idea that the best work is born from diligence, collaboration, innovation, and fun.

Mizan J. Rahman, ERPA, QPA, TGPC

CEO AND FOUNDER

Mizan J. Rahman is a nationally recognized retirement plan consultant with 20+ years of experience designing and managing qualified retirement plans for small to mid-sized businesses and nonprofits. As Founder and CEO of NESA, he brings a uniquely strategic and deeply personal approach to helping organizations simplify plan operations, stay compliant, and empower employees toward a more secure financial future.

With technical mastery across plan design, takeovers, terminations, mergers and acquisitions, and audit resolution, Mizan balances the needs of employers and employees with precision and care. His expertise extends beyond compliance — he helps organizations turn their retirement plans into true assets that attract, retain, and reward talent.

A featured voice in PLANSPONSOR Magazine, Mizan holds a B.S. in Finance from California State University, Northridge. He is an Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent (ERPA) authorized by the IRS, as well as a Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) and Tax-Exempt & Governmental Plan Consultant (TGPC) through ASPPA.

Mizan began his career at a leading third-party administration firm, where he consulted on hundreds of employer-sponsored retirement plans. In 2019, he launched NESA with a bold but clear mission: to take complexity off clients’ plates and ensure their retirement plans are streamlined, audit-ready, and built to stand the test of time.

Born in Bangladesh, raised in Detroit, and having lived in San Diego, Mizan now splits his time between Los Angeles and Denver. When he’s not helping clients build better plans, he’s likely immersed in a good book, shooting hoops, catching fish, or enjoying life with his wife — in reverse order of priority.

Neel Ahmed, MBA

Before joining NESA, she honed her skills as an executive analyst, bringing a sharp eye for detail and efficiency. She holds a B.A. from Cornell College and an M.B.A. from the University of Colorado.

When she’s not keeping things in order at NESA, you’ll find Neel on a yoga mat, exploring hiking trails, getting lost in a good book, or enjoying quality time with family.

Our Knowledge is Your Gain

Designations We Hold

In the fast-paced world of retirement plans, one thing is certain—learning never stops. The industry is constantly evolving, and staying ahead of the curve isn’t just a good idea; it’s essential. That’s why our team regularly attends training sessions, ensuring we’re always up to date on the latest developments. Some sessions are required to maintain licenses, while others we choose to attend simply because we know they’ll benefit our clients.

Beyond ongoing education, many retirement plan consultants take it a step further by earning professional accreditations. These aren’t just fancy titles—they require years of study, experience, and rigorous testing, much like an advanced degree. While the process is demanding, the knowledge gained is invaluable. After all, expertise isn’t just about experience—it’s about continuously pushing to be better for the people who rely on us.
